Programmer's Friend

This site contains useful Java components that I like to share freely with everybody who wants to use them.
Be aware that the libraries and tools offered on this site are available under different license types.

• Programmer's Friend class library V5.0.1
  This is a large collection of Java utility classes that are supposed to to simplify many things that are quite cumbersome if you have to use just the JDK. Have a look at the online javadoc or get it from the download page.

  This class library is available under the Common Public License.

• Java Object Inspector (JOI) V3.0
  A little tool that helps to examine the internal state of objects at run-time. Usually it is a much better choice than adding millions of System.out.println() statements to your code.

  Supports modification of String and primitive type values!

• Object Dependncy Exploration Model (ODEM) V0.5
  Library that specifies a tool independant API for object dependencies. It is supported by CDA.

• Class Dependency Analyzer (CDA) V1.13.1
  Now available at http://www.dependency-analyzer.org/
  This tool allows to examine class dependencies on class, package and archive level. It is build on top of the Programmer's Friend class library (pf.jar). Interested? Then have a look at the online documentation or get it right on from the download page.     License.
• Beluga LDAP Server V0.9
  A very simple lightweigt Java LDAP Server for development and unit testing.   Info    Download
• Start Shell Script Generator V1.5
  This little tool can generate a shell script (i.e. run.bar or run.sh) from a given JAR file with Main-Class and Class-Path defined in its manifest file.

  The advantage of such a start script is that it can be called from everywhere in the file system since it uses absolute filenames in the classpath. Download is here.
